My name is Kevin Bailey and I'm 35 years old.
I was born in Augusta, GA, but have lived in North Carolina since I was about 2 years old.
I grew up in Raleigh, went to college at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and returned to Raleigh after graduation in 1995.
On July 22nd of 1996, I fell off of a roof while working as a residential roofer.
I suffered a spinal cord injury at the sixth thoracic vertebrae.
This left me paralyzed from just below my chest downwards.
Since my accident a little over 12 years ago, I have raced in the Dublin, Ireland marathon, been involved in wheelchair basketball for 10 years,
and gone back to graduate school at Franciscan University of Steubenville in Ohio.
I am currently on medical leave from teaching at Cardinal Gibbons High School in Raleigh where I teach Catholic Church History and Christian morality.
This is my 9th season with the team and third as player/coach.
I couldn’t ask for a better group of individuals to be my teammates….even if some of ‘em are Duke fans.
